SMU-WDA CXO Symposium Series II on Productivity, Service and Innovation 

 

 

Keeping closely to the spirit of providing companies with simple and cost effective ideas to boost productivity, service and innovation at the work place, the 2nd series aims to spur new thinking on the important role that business leaders play in creating the necessary environment to enhance performance, keep the customers and to embrace risks and opportunities. A new feature of the 2nd series would be the use of case studies to frame and guide the discussions. Join our thought leaders in exploring these action-packed topics:

DR. TAN HWEE HOON 
Associate Professor of OB & HR, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, SMU

Tan Hwee Hoon taught at the School of Business at the National University of Singapore from June 1990 to November 2005 and was its Head of the Department from 2004 to 2005. Hwee Hoon has been with the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University since December 2005. Hwee Hoon’s teaching and research interests are in the areas of interpersonal trust, cross cultural awareness and emotional management at the workplace. Hwee Hoon has published in many international journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations and many others. She was also the Asia-Pacific Editor of the Journal of World Business from 2000-2004.

Hwee Hoon is actively involved in Executive Teaching, both in English and Chinese and has trained for many major organisations in the region. She also consults for organisations such as the Singapore Tourism Board, IE Singapore, Far East Organization and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Hwee Hoon is a very engaging and effective facilitator in the training room and had won several teaching awards.

MR NEO TIAM BOON, PBM 
CEO & Executive Director, TA Corporation Ltd

Mr Neo Tiam Boon is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of TA Corporation Ltd, a well-established property developer and construction Group listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange.

A management veteran with an illustrious career in property development, Mr Neo has helmed the overall business development, financial and strategic planning, sales and marketing as well as human resources at TA Corporation for close to two decades. He was also instrumental in formulating the strategy and driving TA Corporation’s expansion into property development back in 1996. Mr Neo was also formerly the Executive Director of C&E Holidays, which was involved in the provision of travel agency services, and the Director of Manswork Employment Agency, which was involved in the provision of employment and consultancy services.

Mr Neo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas in 1986. He was conferred the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2005 in recognition for his public service and community work.

MR LEE MENG TAT 
CEO, Wildlife Reserves Singapore

Mr Lee Meng Tat is the Chief Executive Officer of Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), the parent company of award-winning attractions Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari, River Safari, and Singapore Zoo.

Prior to joining WRS, Mr Lee was the Chief Corporate Development Officer, Food & Beverages of Fraser and Neave Group (F&N). He had held other appointments in F&N, including a secondment to Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd (APB) where he was APB’s Regional Director in China and concurrently held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Heineken-APB (China) Management Services Co., Ltd. Before joining F&N, Mr Lee had held various positions with statutory boards in Singapore (Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Economic Development Board), Sembawang Leisure Pte Ltd, and DBS Bank Ltd.

Mr Lee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (National University of Singapore), and an MBA from Imperial College (London), and had completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

Professor of Marketing, Director, Center for Marketing Excellence, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, SMU

Dr. Srinivas K. Reddy is Professor of Marketing and Director, Center for Marketing Excellence, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University. He served as the Associate Dean of General Management overseeing the MBA and the Executive MBA programmes. Previously, he was the Robert O. Arnold Professor of Business and the Director of the Coca-Cola Center for Marketing Studies, Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He holds M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in Business Administration from Columbia University. Dr. Reddy was on the faculties of New York University’s Stern School of Business, Columbia University, University of California, Los Angeles and the Stanford Business School. Dr. Reddy’s expertise is in innovation, new product development, marketing and competitive strategy involving new brands and services. Dr. Reddy’s research has been published in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, Statistical Science, Social Networks, Marketing Letters, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Decision Support Systems and Journal of Business Research. In 2006, he has been awarded the IBM’s prestigious SUR grant to study corporate innovativeness and innovation conversion. He has consulted and taught executive programs for IBM, Coca-Cola Company, United Parcel Service, Miller Brewing, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers-Squibb, Satyam Computer Services, Chase, Turner Broadcasting, Cox Interactive Media, Equitable, Ford Foundation and Price Waterhouse Coopers, MasterCard, Unilever. He has been recognised for his outstanding teaching and was the recipient of Award for Teaching Excellence in 1994. He was nominated as the MBA Teacher of the Year in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2005.

DR. ROBERT YAP 
Chairman & CEO, YCH Group

Dr. Robert Yap is Chairman and CEO of YCH Group, Singapore’s leading end-to-end Supply Chain Company with operations spanning across the entire Asia-Pacific region. He was conferred the Asia Logistics Hall of Fame award for his significant contributions and thought-leadership to the SCM industry in 2003 and the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) award in 2007. In October 2013, Robert was further honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award (Logistics) presented by the World Chinese Economic Forum.

Robert sits on the ASEAN-Business Advisory Council, which he chaired from 2007 to 2009. He is Vice Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Vice President of Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and Board Member at International Enterprise Singapore (IES) and Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Robert also advises the Singapore National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (SINCPEC), ASEAN SME Advisory Board and SMU School of Information Systems.

With more than 30 years of experience in the Logistics and SCM field, Robert graduated from the Harvard Business School Owner President Management (OPM) program in 1994; and was conferred Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D), honoris causa, in Business Administration in 2001 by Wisconsin International University. Robert is also Founding Chairman of Supply Chain Asia – a community of more than 17,000 supply chain professionals based in the region.
